On June 26, 2017 SAS announced that they will establish a “Smart Campus” with a focus on sustainability and IoT technology.

SAS CEO Jim Goodnight commented,

Analytics should be one of the cornerstones of smart city management

The smart campus IoT project claims to provide direct access to data from equipment and energy meters connected to a building management system which will stream, capture and analyze the data to improve operational efficiencies and trigger alerts in real time.

According to SAS they will be deploying hundreds of wireless sensors to track interval energy consumption and improve facility operations and energy management. The data will help to understand operations, monitor environmental conditions and benchmark energy consumption.
