On June 23, 2017 Proterra had announced deployment of Utah’s first zero-emission, battery-electric mass transit fleet. The Proterra fleet supports Park City’s and Summit County’s transition toward renewable energy and the reduction of its overall carbon footprint by 2022.
Destry Pollard, Park City Transit operations team leader commented:
Our bus fleets will provide annual riders a sustainable, state-of-the-art transit experience while also allowing us to reduce our carbon footprint and hit our renewable energy targets
The Park City region deployment represents the first implementation of Proterra’s battery-lease financing model. According to Proterra, this new model enables cheaper transit vehicles than fossil fuel-based alternatives.
Per the company, Park City Transit, they had received financing for six Proterra buses through a Low-No Emissions Grant with the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
