On January 30, GridPoint announced that, via a partnership with SMUD, it will deliver a new energy management solutions program to small and medium-sized commercial utility customers.

Per GridPoint, SMUD customers that implement the program will gain automated management of their energy consumption through on-site hardware, cloud-based tools and analytics to better control HVAC and lighting schedules, troubleshoot equipment issues remotely, and learn more about their energy patterns so they can adapt operations to maximize savings.

GridPoint, a smart buildings technology company, stressed that the technology accommodates a majority of commercial buildings, requires no capital outlay from the customer, and will be managed and serviced by GridPoint.

GridPoint emphasized that energy savings typically exceed the monthly program fee so customers are cash-flow positive from day one.

SMUD Chief Customer Officer Nicole Howard remarked:

“We want to help our small and mid-sized commercial customers take control of their energy use. By working with GridPoint on this customized energy management solution, we’ll be able to provide an affordable, effective set of tools to small and medium-sized businesses that can deliver the savings large commercial and industrial users have realized for years.” [/p

GridPoint’s Vice President of Channel Sales, Jason Narod observed: “With the energy landscape rapidly evolving, utilities are looking for ways to improve customer care, drive energy efficiency, and bring technology to the edge of the grid. SMUD is an innovative leader and we are excited to partner with them and deliver value to commercial users.”
