Dayton Power & Light presents Wright-Patterson AFB with $1 million energy efficiency rebate check

On September 30, Dayton Power and Light, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation, presented Wright-Patterson Air Force Base with an energy efficiency rebate of $1 million in total for energy upgrades that are improving the environment. With guidance from DP&L, the base implemented several initiatives over consecutive years resulting in the cumulative savings.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has improved the energy efficiency at 100 buildings on-base through a variety of enhancements, including upgraded lighting, energy efficient building design and construction and installing high-efficiency motors, and heating/air conditioning systems. According to Dayton Power & Light, the base’s improvements in indoor lighting have saved 7,978,073 kWh, the improvements to outdoor lighting improvements have saved 763,700 kWh, the improvements to heating ventilation and air conditioning have saved 6,918,917 kWh, and the improvements to motors and drives have saved 811,256 kWh

Colonel John Devillier, commander of the 88th Air Base Wing remarked:”We are excited to receive our million dollar rebate from DP&L. For every dollar we save in energy reduction, we can reallocate to other important areas of our mission.”
