Azure Power commissions 130-MW solar project in Karnataka, begins selling power under 25-year PPA to multiple utilities

On March 28, Azure Power announced that it had commissioned a 130-MW solar power project in Chitradurga district, Karnataka.

According to Azure, the project has a contract to supply power for 25 years to Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply, Hubli Electricity Supply Company Limited and Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company Limited at a tariff of INR 6.51 ($0.10) per kWh.

Azure noted that the project is divided in three sub-projects of 50MWs, 40MWs and 40MWs each and is spread across approximately 668 acres of land.  The firm claims that it is now the largest operator of solar power plants in Karnataka.
