AES announces public offering of $500 million of senior notes

On Aug. 14, 2017, AES announced it intends to offer $500 million aggregate principal amount of senior notes due 2027.

According to AES, they intend to use the net proceeds from the offering of the notes to fund the concurrent tender offer to purchase AES’ outstanding 8.00% senior notes due 2020 and to pay certain related fees and expenses. They intend to use any remaining net proceeds from the offering after completion of the tender offer to retire certain of its outstanding indebtedness.

The company states that the offering and sale of the notes are made only by means of a prospectus supplement dated August 14, 2017 and an accompanying base prospectus dated February 23, 2016 related to the offering.

AES is a Fortune 200 global power company that claims to provide affordable, sustainable energy to 17 countries through a portfolio of distribution businesses as well as thermal and renewable generation facilities.
